Today we are focusing primarily on beginner riders. These could be kids just coming off a 3 wheeler or an older rider 

that has never stepped foot on a pro model scooter before. 

One of the first things to consider when selecting a new pro scooter is what will it be used for? Will the rider be riding primarily in the street or the skatepark? 

Although there are "street" style scooters, you don't necessarily need a street scooter to ride in the streets. The same is true for a "park" style scooter. A park scooter can be ridden on the ramps and is usually smaller and lighter weight than a street scooter so the rider can get big air on the ramps and can maneuver the scooter with ease while doing scooter tricks. But it can also be ridden in the street.

Younger, smaller riders would not do well on a large Street style scooter because the scooter decks are too wide, long and heavy as well as the bars may be too tall for them. 

So it is important to consider is the size of the rider in relation to the size of the scooter.

It's no secret that the $200-$250 price point is the sweet spot for the top manufactures to duke it out with their best complete. First off let's check in on the reigning king of the $219.95 complete. The Envy Prodigy S9 Pro Scooter is the latest model from the crew at Envy and is sure to turn some heads with some recent changes. 

This year (2022) was not a radical update to the Prodigy but Envy did release some new colors, graphics, aesthetics and minor improvements to the model range. The old saying goes "If it ain't broke don't fix it" and the Envy Prodigy has been the fan favorite for riders year after year.

#2. Fuzion Z-350 Pro Scooter - $219.95

Fuzion is the revived brand that has a massive cult-like following in the scooter world and is a fan favorite of many park riders. The Z-350 is a very "park" focused scooter, and we are officially calling them a rival to Envy. The've really aggressively pushing their products to be better and better every year and for 2022 we we're blown away and jaw-dropped at their new line. It was so difficult making this list as we really thought they clinched it this year. They are such a close 2nd in this category it's not even funny. The new Z-350 is such a wicked good light-weight scooter, we even couldn't believe the weight numbers when we read the specs. We just need to ensure the quality of the parts exceeds the standards. But we could see ourselves revising this list after a few months of testing and getting the completes in some riders hands. If your primarily a skatepark rider and want a light weight complete this is it chief.

#3. Madd Gear MGX T2 - $249.95

Madd Gear, the OG brand of the Pro Scooter world since 2002. We love Madd Gear as they are the company that made scootering what it is today. The MGX T2 is technically a 2021 model, (because they release their new models in March and not November like the other guys), but the MGX T2 it is a home-run of a complete that has the most advanced deck design and is very well balanced given it's weight reduction on the deck in this category. The only reason it doesn't rank higher is that $249.95 price point and it's still a 2021 design. (technically). However for a little taller of a rider the 25" tall bar and 20" wide deck is perfect!

However price isn’t everything as there are some important things to keep in mind when purchasing a new complete. But since this list is focused on the $200 and under level, let’s make sure you are looking at the right models as there are a couple things to consider when shopping for a complete pro scooter:

Sizing:

Sizing is probably the most important factor when deciding what pro scooter to purchase. It’s important to understand that pro scooters come in a range of sizes, and for a beginner or someone new to the sport figuring out sizing can be a little tricky. Since this list is focused on covering the $200 range of scooters, I can make sizing these completes easy for you. The manufacturers develop this range of scooters to be what we like to call “One Size Fits Most”, we typically recommend these scooters for riders as young as 11 (4’10”) on the short end all the way up to teens and adults (5’ 9”) for some of the taller models in the list. The most important thing is that the rider is comfortable on the scooter and the handlebars aren’t excessively tall or short for the rider. For the $200 level scooter this covers the vast majority of pre teens, teens, and even some adults up to 5’8. But to make it easy on each model I list the recommended height range of riders.

Envy continues to dominate the market with the Prodigy complete which has seen 8 iterations since its inception. The prodigy is in our opinion the best value complete pro scooter for $199.95, as it is incredibly balanced and features “pro” level parts like Aluminum “Reaper Style” bars for the regular model, Deck Cut-Outs to make the scooter lighter and even the slightly bigger 120mm wheels vs 110mm which you’ll see on almost every other scooter in this list.
